during the surgical procedure. A general anesthetic may be administered,
so that you will be asleep during the entire procedure. A board-certified
anesthesiologist will administer you anesthetic and will be present at all
times to ensure utmost safety. When your surgery is completed, you will
be taken to a recovery area where you will be closely monitored. Small drain
tubes may have been placed to help avoid the accumulation of fluids.

You may be permitted to go home after a few hours, unless you and Dr.
Semlacher have determined that you will stay in the hospital or surgical
facility overnight.
While making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you
home and to spend the first night after surgery. Also you will require
assistance the first few post-operative days. If you have young children
someone should most definitely assist you for the first week
post-operatively.
After your initial healing period, you will return to our office for a post-
operative follow-up visit so your progress can be evaluated. In the following
months, Dr. Semlacher will ask you to return for periodic checkups. It's
important to keep these appointments so that Dr. Semlacher can assess
your long-term results and address any questions or concerns you may
have.
